During my 6th viewing if Anchorman last week, I came to the conclusion that I do, actually, love lamps. The street lamp kind. I realised that over the past 12 months or so, I had come back from every trip I had taken with at least one image of a street light. If not, more.
I can't really ascribe the reasons why this fascination has occurred within me, but I think it must have something to do with the inherently strong architectural shapes that all street lamps by their very nature need to have, as well as being an insight into that place's culture and personality. One of my favourite shots is of a cast iron set of lights in Barcelona, and I will always remember the time that I saw a 12 strong multi headed lamp in Berlin. (One of the few things I do remember from my trip there if regular readers read that blog). More recently, on a trip to the South of Spain, I was forced to realise just how important street lamps are too. I know that may sound ludicrously dense, but to this (bottle) blonde I had genuinely taken them for granted up until I had to meander down a street with absolutely no lighting, and a number of man hole covers that had seen better days. I almost broke my neck three times, and not always to do with totally inappropriate shoes.
Let us know if any tickle your fancy to adorn your walls. We offer discounts for multi purchases though perhaps my apparent lamp bias means that I will always want more than one. Either way, our price list is here. And please do get in contact with any of your own favourite shots. I would love to see them or talk to anyone about lamp loving.
